Pen Anaheim Facility Tour Transcript

Hello, welcome to Pen Manufacturing. My name is Brian Pendarvis. Since 1982 we have been providing machining, welding, and fabrication services to companies and individuals throughout the western United States.

Friends ask me all the time, “Brian, what is it you guys actually do at Pen Manufacturing?" My answer is always the same, “Come on by and I’ll give you my nickel tour."

So I decided to create this short video of an overview of our operation. Hey, let’s get your nickel tour started!

Our engineering and planning department has two seats of Solid Works to help customers with design questions and issues. And from time to time we are also tasked with helping bring a project from the original design to final production.

In the same office our CNC programmer utilizes Surfcam Velocity 5 for programming our CNC mills. When working with the customer we like to assign a project manager to oversee a project from start to finish, and we have recently started utilizing an ERP system to help streamline our internal processes.

This is our CNC machine area. We currently have three CNC lathes, an 8" chuck machine, a 10" chuck and a 12" chuck machine. We also have three vertical machining centers. The largest has an envelope size of 50 x 26 x 26, and the two larger machines have fully functioning 4th axis capabilities with 10,000 RPM spindles. On any given day we could be machining stainless steel, carbon steel, aluminum, and one of several different plastics. Here are some samples of some recent machining projects.

Next is our manual machine shop. Our manual machines include three knee mills, two of them with 2-axis NC controls, 3 manual lathes – the largest lathe can handle a part 15" around and 12 feet long. We also have a VTL, which is a vertical turret lathe. This is one of the first machines my father purchased back in 1982 when he started the shop.

Our weld fab shop consists of several welding stations. On the large end of the spectrum we have a 600 amp MIG welder for welding heavy steel pieces. For production aluminum we have a Cobramatic push-pull MIG welding rig. We also have several 300 amp MIG machines for lightweight fabrication projects. Additionally we have various sizes and configurations of TIG welding machines. Our weld fab shop holds various AWS certifications and a Los Angeles Fabricators License. Any day could see us welding stainless steel, carbon steel, or aluminum.

In the back of the shop we have a 90 ton iron worker, a new 16" horizontal mitre saw for cutting large structural shapes, a 14" vertical saw with mitre capabilities, a new 10" fully automatic horizontal saw, and a bead blasting cabinet.

So here we are back at the front office. Down the left side of your screen you’ll see a couple tabs you can click on. My favorite one is the one titled Project Portfolio. Here you’ll find pictures and descriptions of some of our latest and greatest projects. On the page that you found this video you’ll soon find more videos that will highlight in greater detail some of our capabilities.

On a personal note, I’ve been in the industry over 25 years and I know a lot of great people around town. If we can’t help you move your project forward, I bet I can point you in the right direction.

With that said I appreciate you taking your time for my nickel tour.

If we can be of any service please don’t hesitate to call me at the 800 number at the top of any page of our website. Or you can shoot me a message via our Contact Us page. Again my name is Brian Pendarvis, and I hope my nickel tour satisfied some of your curiosity about what we do at Pen Manufacturing.

Thanks again for stopping by to visit, and I hope to hear from you soon.
